The current Ford Ranger returned to showrooms in the United States 4 years ago, entering one of the most competitive segments in the industry. The highly anticipated 2024 Ford Ranger pickup truck is a globally proven companion designed to unleash a spirit of adventure. This all-new trim will feature a ground-up redesign that includes new technology, new drivetrain options, and new exterior and interior features. In other words, this vehicle enables owners to embrace the great outdoors, outfitted with intelligent features that encourage tackling new challenges and exploration. With unparalleled capabilities and exceptional connectivity, it represents the pinnacle of toughness among midsize pickups, proudly bearing the Built Ford Tough legacy.

The Power Under the Hood

One of the 2023 Ranger’s assets is its powerful 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which produced 270 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. That engine returns in the 2024 Ranger, but it is supplemented by a 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 engine that offers 310 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque. Both engines are connected to Ford’s 10-speed automatic transmission, and are available with an optional electronic, shift-on-the-fly four-wheel drive system. The new Ranger’s maximum tow rating remains an impressive 7,500 pounds, with maximum payload at 1,805 pounds.

Enhanced Features

The new Ranger chassis begins with a fully boxed high-strength steel frame accompanied by a wheelbase and track that is two inches longer and wider. Ford claims the new truck also provides better approach and departure angles and greater ground clearance. Additional features for 2024 include improved interior materials, upgraded interior storage capacity, and an Integrated Box Side Step behind the rear tires to stand on when accessing the truck bed.

These hardware modifications are complemented by several integral technology upgrades. Larger displays are common during a redesign, with the 2024 Ranger now presented with a 12-inch central touchscreen unit and a 12.4-inch gauge cluster. Nonetheless, the new truck can also be had with dedicated screens for different driving modes, wireless charging, exterior zone lighting for night work, a 360-degree camera, and a standard 4G LTE wifi hotspot for over-the-air updates.

Continuing the Ford Legacy

According to Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford Blue, “Ford is the No. 1 selling pickup manufacturer globally and Ranger is the winning choice for midsize truck customers around the world who need a capable, smart and versatile truck that’s ready to keep up with their adventures. The all-new Ranger has already proven itself on almost every continent in 2022 with segment sales leadership in 18 countries, and all of Europe. Now it’s ready for North America.”

Indeed, in 2022 alone, Ford’s distinguished brand sold over 1 million pickups worldwide, with Ranger contributing significantly to this remarkable achievement. Over the past decade, Ranger sales have surged by 112 percent on a global scale, with more than 86,000 units sold in the 2023 model year. Adding yet again to its laudable accomplishments, the previous-generation 2023 Ranger was recently honored by Kelley Blue Book for its exceptional value, cementing the lowest five-year total cost of ownership in the midsize pickup truck segment. Accounting for maintenance costs, insurance, depreciation, and fuel expenses, this distinction emphasizes the Ranger’s striking long-term affordability.

The Blue Oval is making sure to cater to the needs of its adrenaline-seeking customers with the 2024 Ford Ranger.
