The largest Ford three-row SUV is due for an update. Having gone on sale for 2018, the Ford Expedition will likely receive a significant refresh or arrive in an all-new generation for 2025. However it shapes up, the new Expedition will come equipped with features aimed at bettering other full-size three-row SUVs such as the Jeep Wagoneer. To that end, spy photographers have managed to grab a sneak peek at the cabin of the new 2025 Ford Expedition, providing an early preview before the SUV is revealed in full in the next couple of months (2024).

As expected, the all-new 2024 Lincoln Nautilus is sharing its dashboard design, indicating that Ford’s latest infotainment system, dubbed Digital Experience, will make an appearance with an 11.1-inch touchscreen in the center of the dash console and another larger 48-inch display across the entire width of the dash.

The good news is that the volume control and the gear selector are physical rotary knobs. Access to Apple CarPlay smartphone integration is available, while buttons for other significant functions like the hazard warning lights are also evident. Climate controls, however, will appear on the touchscreen. Fortunately, these controls will always reside along the bottom of the screen, making them simple to access.

Exterior Style

Even though the 2025 Ford Expedition is confirmed to receive a thorough makeover, the body is not set to change excessively apart from some modifications to the front and rear fascias. For example, there could be notable differences in the headlights, grille, and taillights. That said, there are some considerations toward style with attractive contrast stitching on the aluminum and leather accents throughout.

The Blue Oval has been careful to cover the entire body of the vehicle in highly effective camouflage, so garnering hints about the Expedition SUV’s new design is nearly impossible. Given how extensive the alterations to the 2024 Lincoln Nautilus were, it is expected that the automaker will evolve the Expedition vehicle’s design somewhat, but square headlights will undoubtedly live on.

Powering the Expedition

The new Expedition SUV’s standard engine could be relatively similar to the one utilized now. That would be a 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 connected to a ten-speed automatic transmission, with rear-wheel drive standard and four-wheel drive available. Indeed, base output could rise to the current mid-range level, up from 380 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. It is also possible that it could accelerate to 440 horsepower and deliver 510 pound-feet of torque, an engine tune that is currently only available in the Expedition Timberline. The addition of an electrified Expedition also appears likely – a hybrid, all-electric, or potentially both.

For example, the brand could borrow the hybrid setup from the F-150 PowerBoost. It could combine a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6 with an electric motor for appreciable fuel economy increases over the standard engine, potentially up to 23 or more miles per gallon in city and highway driving. Ford has not officially announced this information, but the rumor mill claims all will be revealed at the New York International Auto Show, spanning from March 29 to April 8, 2024.

Even though most details regarding the 2025 Ford Expedition remain shrouded in mystery, it will evidently boast a best-in-class infotainment system.
