OVERVIEW

  • Ford revealed the interior of the Mustang GTD, featuring exclusive graphics and controls.
  • The optional Performance Pack incorporates aerodynamic updates while further decreasing weight.
  • The muscle car is outfitted with a supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine that will produce over 800 horsepower.

If enthusiasts believed the GTD was remarkable, Ford recently announced the debut of an all-new 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 15-16, 2024. Other than setting new standards in style, performance, and refinement, this high-performance model, depicted in striking Chroma Flame paint, is designed to excel in every category.

What Sets the 2025 Ford Mustang GTD Carbon Series Apart?

The Mustang GTD pony car’s Performance package is its most noteworthy feature, crucial for attaining a sub-seven-minute lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. This package integrates underbody flaps, a larger splitter, dive planes, and a drag reduction system on the rear wing. These active aerodynamic components minimize drag without sacrificing grip while cornering. The Lightweight package, part of the Performance pack, adds 20-inch magnesium wheels and eliminates some sound-deadening material, enhancing aesthetics and performance.

“Many sports cars excel at one thing. But for a car to set a quick lap at the Nürburgring, it needs to be great at everything. Cornering, grip, braking, acceleration, there’s not a single area where it can’t shine. From the lightweight carbon fiber body on every GTD to the active aerodynamics of the Performance package, we’ve learned from motorsport how to make the Mustang GTD excel everywhere, all in the quest for a sub-seven-minute lap of the Nürburgring.”

Driver-Inspired Cabin

The Mustang GTD vehicle’s interior, unveiled for the first time at Le Mans, was conceived with the driver in mind. For example, a new Mustang GTD steering wheel and standard Recaro seats guarantee drivers remain comfortable and focused. For reference, the flat-bottom steering wheel features carbon-fiber elements, premium Dinamica inserts, and a leather wrap. Exclusive to the GTD are physical buttons on the steering wheel for fine-tuning the exhaust mode and suspension firmness, allowing for seamless adjustments while driving.

Moreover, two new buttons on the hero panel, ahead of the rotary gear selector, provide access to the Track Apps page and activate a front-axle lift function to navigate obstacles. The GTD also features 3D-printed titanium paddle shifters. They are hexagonal and oversized for improved grip, enhancing control over the eight-speed dual-clutch transaxle and the supercharged 5.2-liter V-8 engine with over 800 horsepower. According to Design Manager Anthony Colard, “Mustang GTD does far more than elevate the Mustang’s performance envelope. It brings a new, more focused, premium feel to the cabin.”

The Exterior Design

The Mustang GTD sports car’s exterior is equally splendid. The new Chroma Flame paint is exclusive to this model and is one of six standard hues, including:

  • Race Red
  • Lightning Blue
  • Frozen White
  • Polymimetic Gray
  • Shadow Black

The Carbon Series trim underscores the carbon-fiber body with an unpainted roof, hood, rear Tech Deck, and Magnetite-finished wheels. Optional body color or contrasting painted stripes and several brake caliper colors are also available.

Additionally, with its European debut, the application window for the Mustang GTD officially opened for the European market on June 13, 2024. Prospective customers in the European Union can now apply to purchase this exceptional vehicle at TheMustangGTD.com.
