If readers follow Ford trucks closely, they probably know that the Super Duty lineup was named the 2024 North American Truck of the Year Award winner in January 2024. It was honored because it was designed to make life on or away from the job site more productive and convenient–whether backing up to a loading dock, hitching a trailer, making tight turns on off-road trails, or installing and operating upfit equipment–Super Duty pickup trucks and chassis cabs lead the market in key segments, including construction, mining, and utilities. Not to mention, these vehicles have double the share of their closest competitor.

Keep in mind that not every consumer will have the same things to say about the trucks that they have chosen to purchase, but when owners have nothing but good things to say about a specific model and year, it is a safe bet that the truck is reliable and can be trusted by others in the market to buy a used truck that will not let them down. In other words, it boils down to what current and past truck owners are saying and what the experts have claimed to be the leaders of the pickup truck industry. What is expected out of a truck is not only being dependable on and off the main roads, but it must also handle hard work and even harder play.

More than Just a NACTOY Win for Ford

According to statistics, approximately 96 percent of heavy-duty pickup owners utilize their trucks to tow. Indeed, with best-in-class maximum available towing of 40,000 pounds, best-in-class maximum available payload of 8,000 pounds, best-in-class available 500 horsepower, and 1,200 pound-feet of torque from the high-output 6.7-liter Power Stroke V-8 diesel, Super Duty customers can tow and haul with confidence.

On February 8, 2024, the NACTOY win was further reinforced when the Super Duty lineup was named by J.D. Power as the most dependable, sizable heavy-duty pickup in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, based on feedback from drivers after three years of ownership. Tim Baughman, the General Manager of North America at Ford Pro, expressed the significance of this achievement, stating, “Every day, F-Series trucks are put to the test to get the job done, whether it be work or recreation.” He added, “Like all Ford trucks, Super Duty is Built Ford Tough. It’s more than a moniker for us, it’s our purpose. We are proud to receive this important recognition. It means we are building dependable trucks our customers can rely on.”

In today’s automotive landscape, where vehicle longevity is increasingly valued, reliability remains a paramount concern for buyers, according to insights from J.D. Power. Frank Hanley, the Senior Director of Auto Benchmarking at J.D. Power, also praised the performance of the Super Duty, declaring, “The Ford Super Duty is a deserving winner in the Large Heavy-Duty Pickup segment, and it exemplifies outstanding dependability in the first three years of ownership.”

Benefits of the 2021 Ford F-250

The 2021 Ford F-250 remains a remarkable machine. Its massive towing and hauling capabilities mean it barely seems stressed when tasked with heavy loads. Much of that credit goes to the available V-8 engines, making prodigious power and torque. Additionally, the ten-speed transmission included on higher trims is smart and slick.

That said, trim levels offered for the 2021 F-250 run the gamut from stripped-out work truck to luxury cruiser. The available Sync 3 infotainment system is quite user friendly, and Ford’s Co-Pilot 360 driver assist technologies help wrangle the large beast. Whatever the task at hand, the 2021 Ford F-250 remains a capable, well-executed, and competent heavy-duty pickup truck.
