The Ford Bronco has shared ties with off-road culture since its debut in the 1960s. Ford unveiled the Bronco Sport alongside the Bronco, but the Bronco Sport  splits from the typical Bronco recipe. Although the full-size Bronco is a burly off-roader designed to rival the Jeep Wrangler, its compact counterpart is a more capable version of the Ford Escape. Don’t be fooled by its appearance: Despite sharing a platform with the Escape, the Bronco Sport offers distinct capabilities.

2024 Ford Bronco Sport: Five Trims

Each trim symbolizes a specialty as it relates to the overall lineup.

  • The introductory-level Big Bend trim represents a blank canvas to incorporate available upgrades or keep the standard Bronco Sport as is.
  • The Outer Banks trim integrates sophisticated interior materials and amenities, serving as the refined variant among the off-roaders.
  • The upper-tier Badlands trim possesses everything someone would require to dominate the wilderness and command the trails, ranging from solid underbody protection to massive 17-inch wheels and enhanced trail management control. The Advanced 4×4 drivetrain on the Badlands, mated to the exceptional chassis and suspension, make it ideal for off-road excursions.

Under the Hood of the 2024 Ford Bronco Sport

Two engines propel the Ford Bronco Sport: the 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-three delivers 181 horsepower and a robust 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline-four generates 250 horsepower. For a vehicle with off-road ambitions, its shifting capacity is superb.

All 2024 Bronco Sport iterations are equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with the Badlands trim including steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. The automatic transmission combines well with the standard 4×4 all-wheel drive received by each Bronco Sport, resulting in secure driving.

How Much Can a 2024 Bronco Sport Tow?

The power unleashed by the 2024 Bronco Sport not only takes the off-road experience to the next level but also boosts the automobile’s towing capabilities. When outfitted with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost engine and the optional Class II Trailer Tow package, the SUV can haul up to 2,000 pounds.

However, if a customer opts for the top-tier Badlands trim and its 2.0-liter EcoBoost powertrain, towing capacity is bolstered by 500 pounds, yielding a 2,500-pound maximum towing capacity. The vehicle’s compact size is suitable for pulling recreational gear in the city or small trailers. Other items include ATVs, motorcycle trailers, and pop-up trailers.
